Misprint Magazine
Editorial Direction / Brand Identity / Print Production
From 2005–2012, Misprint Magazine was an independent publication covering Austin’s music scene and subculture. Across 21 printed issues, it became a recognized voice in the city — something people picked up, held onto, and showed up for in real life. As a co-founder, I led the vision end-to-end: shaping the editorial voice, designing every issue, and building it into a platform that extended beyond print through events and community.
Misprint Cover-to-Cover
In its heyday, an issue of Misprint was 32 pages full of content (and ads from our friends’ businesses), 5000 copies strong, and hand-delivered to Austin’s coffee shops, bars, and bodegas. The cover designs strove for simplicity, with a hint of humor.

In addition to publishing the zine, Misprint produced many popular events throughout the year – none more popular than the Beard & Moustache Contest. At its peak, a sold-out capacity crowd of 1,200 people filled The Mohawk on Red River St to watch the show.
Yes, that’s Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top – he was a guest judge two years in a row.
